Astra Style — Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: 31 July 2026
Some product links in Astra Style earn us a commission. That commission never changes what Kyra tells you to buy.
1. The short version
- When Astra Style shows you a product, the link may be an affiliate link.
- If you buy through it, the retailer may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way.
- Whether a product carries a commission plays no part in whether it is recommended to you, how it is ranked, or what verdict Kyra gives it.
- Anything sponsored is labelled as sponsored, in the app, where you see it.
2. Why we take commission at all
Astra Style is paid for by subscriptions. Affiliate commission is a secondary source of revenue, and the reason to be careful about it is obvious: a stylist whose "buy" verdicts happen to track commission is not a stylist. That is the failure mode this page, and the design decisions behind it, exist to prevent.
3. How recommendations are actually produced
Product suggestions and verdicts are computed from the wardrobe you already own and the preferences you gave us:
- how well an item works with what is already in your closet;
- how much it duplicates something you own;
- how many genuinely new outfits it would make possible;
- what it would cost you per wear;
- your colour, fit, formality and brand preferences, your budget and your lifestyle.
Commission rate, affiliate availability and retailer relationship are not inputs to that calculation. The scoring runs on the same features whether a product came from a retailer feed, from our curated catalogue, or from a link you pasted yourself — and a product you paste with no affiliate relationship at all is scored by exactly the same code.
"Wait for sale" and "Skip" are real verdicts that the app gives, and they earn us nothing. That is the point.
4. What is labelled, and where
- Product listings show the retailer and price, with the affiliate relationship disclosed at the point where you would act on it.
- Sponsored placements, if any exist, are labelled as sponsored.
- Retailer links open in an in-app browser or the retailer's own app, so you can see whose site you are on.
[[NEEDS INPUT: whether any sponsored or paid placement will exist at launch. If none will, say so plainly here instead of hedging]]
5. How we hold ourselves to this
The commitment above is a design constraint, not just a promise: the recommendation code computes from the same feature set regardless of a product's commercial status.
We also intend to audit it — periodically comparing the spread of verdicts given to affiliate-linked products against non-affiliate ones, controlling for category, price and how well the item fits the wardrobe, and investigating any skew. To be accurate about the present: that audit is not running yet, because the shopping features it would measure are not live. [[NEEDS INPUT: audit cadence and who owns it, once commerce ships. Do not present the audit as an operating control until it runs]]
6. Who we have relationships with
[[NEEDS INPUT: the affiliate networks and retailer programmes we participate in, listed by name. At the time of writing, no affiliate network is integrated, the product catalogue is empty, and the shopping features are not live. Several programmes — Amazon Associates among them — mandate specific disclosure wording that must be reproduced verbatim; that wording must be added here before launch]]
7. What retailers learn about you
When you open a retailer link, you leave Astra Style. The retailer receives what any website receives from a visiting browser, plus whatever tracking identifier the affiliate programme attaches to the link so a sale can be attributed to us. We do not send retailers your profile, your measurements, your closet or your images.
Within the app we record that an affiliate link was opened and for which retailer. That record carries no personal content.
[[NEEDS INPUT: confirm, once an affiliate network is integrated, exactly what identifiers are appended to outbound links and whether any of them are tied to your account — then state it here precisely]]
8. Prices, availability and who you are buying from
We are not the seller. Prices, sizes and availability shown in Astra Style come from retailers or their feeds and can be out of date; the retailer's own listing is authoritative. Your purchase is a contract with that retailer, under their terms, and they are responsible for the product, delivery, returns and refunds.
